So you hate having your photograph taken !

Many couples I meet tell me how much they hate having their photograph taken, hate seeing themselves in photographs and feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. They also tell me that they have been to weddings where they had to stand around for hours having hundreds of pictures taken or that they stood around waiting for several hours while the bride and groom were taken off by a photographer for a posed photo session.

Well I'd like to explain how I like to work so that hopefully I can put pay to your fears and let you know that I prefer to capture moments as they happen, real moments of laughter and tears and most of all leave you to relax and enjoy your wedding day.

I usually like to join the bride for preparation pictures but don't insist on it should you prefer not to. This can be a great opportunity to get some relaxed and fun pictures with your bridal party and also some detail shots to build the story of your day, however I won't photograph your dress, shoes and flowers in many different positions, preferring to photograph you and your guests as I feel it is your loved ones who make a wedding special.

Then it's time to meet up with the groom and his groomsmen. I don't make them do jazz hands or jump off walls , again it's about being natural and relaxed.

There may be transport involved

Then its time for the ceremony

Congratulations !

If your wedding is not in the same place as the reception its nice to have a few pictures of the transport.

I don't take you off for photographs straight after the ceremony I think its nice for you to have a celebration drink with your guests . This is a great time for capturing lots of natural photographs.

Its then nice to take you off for 10 to 15 minutes for a few posed ones, but not too posed and I stay on my long lens so that I'm not in your face !

A few group shots are nice but not 2 hours of them !

Sometimes it rains but if you are up for going out under a brolly .......

Then while you carry on having fun with your guests i'll sneak off and get some shots of the details.

It's time for you to eat so I sit in another room until you have finished, then it's time for the speeches, again I just mingle with my long lens, capturing lots of funny and emotional moments.

Then its time to let the fun and dancing begin !

So I hope that gives you an idea of how the photography would work if you were to choose me as your photographer. Above all I believe that you should enjoy your day and not worry about the photographs, I will capture lots of real moments and not have you standing around for hours !
